For Veterinary Use Only
Main Ingredient:
Tylosin Tartrate
Specification:
20 g (20 million units) per 100 g
Pharmacological Action:
Pharmacodynamics:
Tylosin is a macrolide antibiotic developed specifically for veterinary use. It is highly effective against Mycoplasma spp. and has a similar antibacterial spectrum to erythromycin.
Effective against sensitive strains of:
-
Gram-positive bacteria: Staphylococcus aureus (including penicillin-resistant strains), Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus spp., Bacillus anthracis, Erysipelothrix, Listeria monocytogenes, Clostridium spp.
-
Gram-negative bacteria: Haemophilus spp., Neisseria meningitidis, Pasteurella spp.
Note: Cross-resistance may occur between tylosin and erythromycin, especially with Staphylococcus aureus.
Pharmacokinetics:
Tylosin is absorbed through the gastrointestinal tract after oral administration. It is widely distributed throughout the body, although it penetrates poorly into cerebrospinal fluid. Phosphate forms of tylosin are less readily absorbed. Injection leads to higher organ concentrations compared to oral use (2–3 times).
Drug Interactions:
-
Do not use concurrently with other macrolides, lincosamides, or amphenicols due to overlapping target sites.
-
Avoid combination with β-lactam antibiotics, as they may have antagonistic effects.
Indications:
Used in poultry to treat infections caused by Mycoplasma spp. and Gram-positive bacteria.
